Welcome! I’m So Glad You’re Here
Welcome sweet friend to my little corner of the internet where I share with you my journey of building a heavenly home. What exactly is a heavenly home? Well, in some ways that answer will be specific to you and your family. But there are some aspects of a heavenly home that transcend families and locations.
What Is a Heavenly Home?
Answer: any home filled with love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). You see, these sweet qualities, more than our furniture, food, or fanciness, determine if our homes are heavenly or not. And we the homemakers have the power and ability to bring a little bit of heaven into our homes every day!
Just imagine how your husband or children would feel stepping into a peaceful, joyful home after a long, busy day. Can you feel the relief sweeping over their bodies as they are greeted with familiar and welcoming sights, sounds, and scents? When we make an effort to bring heaven into our homes we give our families a gift that they can carry with them.
My Home’s Journey
And so, sweet friend, this is my vision for my home – and yours! Homes that are used of God to His glory to comfort, revive, refresh, and mend our loved ones. I desire to build a home that welcomes, that soothes, that speaks love, and that points to Christ, and I want to share my journey in building this home with you! It is my hope that you will be encouraged and possibly even inspired by what God is teaching me. And I hope that you will reach out and encourage and inspire myself and others as well!
This is a journey because I am no where near where I would like to be. I am an imperfect wife and mama seeking to serve and love a perfect Saviour. I fall daily (usually hourly!) far short of where I want to be. Too often I do and say things in my own flesh instead of His Spirit. Too often the atmosphere in my own home is harsh, impatient, grumbling, cross, irritated, and self-willed because I am harsh, impatient, grumbling, cross, irritated, and self-willed! But God is so gracious and good to forgive (and forgive, and forgive!) and I hope that His grace will shine through me as well, because being a wife and mama is sanctifying work.
Be Still and Know
Please take some time and look around, be encouraged, be inspired, or simply just sit for a moment and be still and know that He is God. We can each build a little bit of heaven into our homes – it won’t happen overnight, but we can see our vision become more and more of a reality.
